June 30th: Last night's Panorama programme: "Will The Scots Ever Be Happy?"
The above video is a neatly condensed three minute summary of last night's Panorama programme a.k.a. "Will The BBC Ever Stop Making Predictable Unionist Propaganda That Masquerades As Impartial And Balanced Current Affairs Programmes With Offensive Quasi-Racist Titles That Would Have Fleet Street Pigs Squealing If The Words 'The Scots' Were Replaced By The Words 'The English'?"

It wasn't too long ago David Starkey was allowed to bad-mouth Scotland and Robert Burns and his poetry on another of the BBC's 'flagship programmes' 'Any Questions'.
The BBC also seems to think that Scotland promoting its own unique language, something that makes Scotland Scotland, to be 'politically correct' (whatever that means) -
Union call to scrap Gaelic signs
BBC Scotland

Reading the news item nowhere do I see anyone using 'politically correct' other than the BBC.
Being offensive and nasty seems to be something the BBC is actively trying to cultivate, what with 'prank' calls by unfunny light entertainers etc.

David Starkey sounded (and, if i'm honest, actually looked) like a snooty-gobbed, parochial wee fud when he came out wi that pish. I wouldnae blame the BBC for gie'in the radge enough rope to hang aes sel there.
Inveterate snob and Scotland basher, Jeremy Paxman should curb his patter though. He's been gettin away wi too much snidieness for far too long.
That story is bang outta order. I take it the inverted commas have been put in to indicate that it was the Union official who used the term 'politically correct'. Woulda been decent if the BBC had balanced the story by quoting a Gael on the subject.
Still the best broadcaster in the world (that i ken of) but that's coming to mean less and less.

I confess I have long hated David Starkey. However taking a closer look at his work, he is not the total monster I once thought he was. He is very diplomatic, but I know for a fact he at least recognises that the House of Lords needs taking in hand. Let's hope we soon get an elected 2nd chamber.

DPS, I cannae see much future for the house of lords once Scotland breaks away from the United Kingdom. The remaining constituent parts will have to take a long hard look at how they want to be governed, hopefully writing themselves a proper constitution in the process. No democrat in their right mind would come up with a model as arcane as the house of lords as an upper chamber.
